Good Health & Prosperity

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, just as your soul prospers!  So begins the Third Epistle of John.

Good health is God's desire for all mankind. Yet, with all of the sickness and disease (cancer, high blood pressure, asthma, arthritis, heart failure and diabetes, just to name a few) around us, one would think that God had forgotten us.

While God is concerned about our health and well being, He has given each of us the freedom to make our own choices. Could it be then, that this freedom to choose and how we have exercised it, is the reason why we have become as SICK as we are today?

Can we agree that it's the choices we made over the past 20-30 years that have determined the quality of our health today and that if we continue the same practices, we can only expect more of the same?

Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for years of neglect of our bodies but there are still actions that can be taken to bring about improvements. Implementing the following six steps can begin the process of getting your health back on tract.

  1. Select foods more carefully: Choose foods that are low in saturated fat and cholesterol but high in fiber. Refer to the Food Pyramid Chart .
  2. Exercise regularly: Even minimal exercise can be beneficial.
  3. Drink plenty of water: Our bodies and blood are 70% and 80% water, respectively. Drinking eight glasses of water daily will help to keep us relatively free of toxins and properly hydrated.
  4. Rest: It is important that we get adequate an adequate amount (7-10 hours) of sleep every night so that our bodies can experience its restorative, energizing and revitalizing benefits.
  5. Alcohol & Smoking: Reduce or eliminate alcohol consumption and by any means necessary, STOP SMOKING!
  6. Food Supplementation: Since most of us do not get all of the vitamins and minerals needed for good health from the foods we consume and since a lack of these vitamins and minerals contribute to various types of diseases; it is important to consider food supplementation in our overall health plan.

While we may be suffering from the effects of years of bad decisions regarding our health, many of these negatives can be reversed if we ACT NOW!

God has not forgotten His desire for us. He really wants us to prosper and to be healthy, as long as we understand there is a price to pay for the decisions we made.

Good health is not an accident waiting to happen to us, instead, it comes from us accepting responsibility for what happens to us, from adopting the "if it is to be, it is up to me" attitude and then conscientiously implementing these six steps into our daily routine.

Best of health!
